North Charleston Post Office Services
The post office offers two processing services. The first is routine or standard processing. With this option, the application process takes 4-6 weeks. So, form the time you would submit all the documents to the post office and until you receive your new passport; it would be about 4-6 weeks. The time can increase if the application was sent during peak processing time or the region has severe weather. This is the best choice if you are not in a hurry. Also, it is the cheapest.
The second option is expedited services. This service is if you are in a rush for a passport and cannot wait 4-6 weeks. But, do get approval you must provide proof of international travel. This can be a copy of your itinerary showing the departure date within four weeks. Once approved, the process takes 2-3 weeks after submitting all the documents. If you need a passport sooner than two weeks, hire a passport agency.
Other Acceptance Facilities in North Charleston
Courthouses, county clerk’s offices, and public libraries will accept your passport application just as the post offices. But, not all these facilities are designated acceptance offices. Unlike the post offices, fewer applicants visit these locations; therefore, their operating hours are shorter. Because of shorter hours, you may encounter long waiting time if you attend one. The post offices offer two options in services; the court, county clerk, and library only provide one, routine processing. Please be aware before going to them.
Start the process soon now that you know where to go and submit your application. It is better to have a passport when you need it than to want one when you don’t.
