Surprise Passport Offices – Where to Submit a Passport Application in Surprise, Arizona
Updated As of read 2 min
Residents of Surprise can visit their post office to submit a passport application. In Surprise, there is a post office, but in Maricopa County, there are two and other drop-off locations like UPS stores. At the post offices are certified agents to collect and revise your documents. The agent then packages the documents and sends it to a processing center.
You have two options to select from for processing. You can use routine or standard processing or if you are in a rush, expedited processing. The post office also offers photo service for a fee. So, if you did not take your picture yet, you can do so while submitting your application.
Surprise Post Office Services
As mentioned before, you have two choices when applying for a passport. The first is routine or standard processing. With routine, the process usually takes 4-6 weeks but can sometimes take longer. During peak application submission, the process can delay an extra two weeks. Also, if the region has severe weather, this sometimes delays mail delivery and in turn prolong your passport delivery.
Standard processing is the cheapest and use by many who can wait. For others who cannot, then expedited processing is the best option. However, to get approval, you must present proof of international travel. A copy of your itinerary with departure date sooner than four weeks will be enough evidence for support. Once you have the permission, the process takes 2-3 weeks. If you are in a hurry and need the passport sooner, hire a regional agency.
Other Acceptance Facilities
Apart from the post offices, other designated acceptance facilities are in Maricopa County. These facilities are the courthouse, county clerk’s office, and public library. There are multiple libraries, and not everyone is an acceptance office. Check with the county for a list of names that do accept passport applications. At the designated sites, you will have only routine processing. Also due to fewer applicants visiting these locations, their operating hours are fewer, and it can sometimes result in longer waiting time. So, keep in mind you will not get all the services at these sites as you would at the post offices.
Now that you know where to apply for a passport, it is best to start the process now. It is better to have a passport when you don’t need it than when you do. So, if you should get a passport using a rush service, the cost can be twice compared to getting one using routine processing.
