Updated As of read 2 min
In Thousand Oaks, there are a variety of places residents can submit their passport application. The most popular location is the post office. Most post offices have a designated window with an acceptance agent to collect, package, and send your form, supporting documents, and fee to a processing center. Thousand Oaks has five passport offices you can visit drop-off your documents. In Ventura County, there are twenty post offices.
All the post offices offer two options for passport processing. The first is routine and the second is expedited. Anyone can choose conventional processing, but not everyone can pick expedited. The two will be discussed later on. Some post offices also offer to take your photos if you haven’t done so yet. This service will cost an additional fee.

Thousand Oaks Post Office Services
Routine Service
Routine processing is considered to be normal processing. After submitting your application to an acceptance facility, the documents are forward to a processing center. At the processing center all the documents are reviewed, and if everyone no mistake is found, the printing of the passport commence. After a period, usually 3-4 weeks, the new document is mailed to you. The average processing time is about 4-6 weeks. A delay in the process will cause the document to reach a later date.
Expedited Service
Unlike routine, expedited service speeds the processing time. With this option, the documents are sent using overnight service. Also, written on the envelope is “RUSH” which gives the application priority for processing. Once no errors are found in the documents, the passport gets printed. Once verified of no mistakes, the new document is mailed overnight to its owner. This normally takes 2-3weeks. If you need a passport sooner than two weeks, then you must visit a regional agency.
Other Acceptance Facilities
Like the post office, there are other acceptance facilities in Thousand Oaks. They offer the same service as the post office except expedited processing. The sites are a courthouse, county clerk’s office, and public library. Not every place is an acceptance facility; the designated ones can be found in Ventura County.
In Thousand Oaks, you can go to Postal Annex, Office Depot, or FedEx Office Print and Ship Center to submit your application. Since it will be routine processing, the fee will be the same as going to the post office. The processing time will also be 4-6 weeks without delays.
So, you know where the sites are located and how to apply. Now is the time to get your documents together and start the process. Before you know, you will have a new passport and ready to travel internationally.
