The early 2000s saw a new era of cruise ships for the Norwegian Cruise line. With the launch of the Norwegian Dawn in 2002, a 91,740-ton ship capable of carrying 2,224 passengers at full capacity. After much deliberation, the company felt as if cruise ships had become too stale and sought to create a new experience. One that was more upbeat, energetic, and exciting.

The Dawn sought to create a festival, party-like experience with incredible entertainment. In addition, restaurants, exciting children’s centers, and whimsically fun decor. All at a fair and reasonable price. Thus, the ship features bright, Miami-inspired colors throughout the design. These colors even carry to the outside hull of the ship with brightly painted dolphins and streamers dancing along the outer walls.
