Submit My Information for a Lost U.S. Passport. My Supporting Documents Were Not Returned?
/ 5 Stars read < 1 min
Question: I applied for a passport about 4 weeks ago and I was happy to receive it in the mail today. However, my original passport along with the supporting documents were not returned with the passport. What should I do? Will I get those documents back?
Answer: Your New Passport is mail first separately from your old passport and supporting documents. You should be on the look out for another piece of mail from the passport agency. Do not worry or panic. This is standard operating procedure. Remember, you will not be able to use the old passport anyway. Your new passport is ready for use.
You can always reach out to the passport information center at this number: 877-487-2778, It’s a toll free number and they are open from Monday to Friday (8AM-10PM EST). That number also provides automated service to common questions and issues.
Also, the National Passport Information Center will be able to inform you on the status of your passport. Usually it takes the National Passport Information Center about 7 – 10 business days before they can tell you about the status of your passport processing. Since you already have your passport, they might not be able to tell you when you will be getting your other supporting documents in the mail.
