This is possible because of Assumptions collaborating in working with programs to ensure students do not have to be proficient in the language of the country they wish to study. Many of the classes are available in English or there are immersion programs to assist students who want to learn.

Assumption College Study Abroad Programs

Assumption College offers many study abroad options for students to find something that suits their travel desires and needs. In addition, students are offered the Assumption Rome Campus, Semester Study Abroad, Short-Term Academic Travel, Cocurricular Travel, Post-Graduate, and Internships Abroad programs. What is the most noteworthy about their programs is that they are so far out of the box and offer a lot of opportunities for self-growth and building resumes. Some of the most frequently visited sites include:

  • Semester at Sea program, which includes stops in China, Hong Kong, Vietnam, India, Egypt, and Turkey

Assumption Rome Campus

Assumption students can live and learn in the heart of “the Eternal City” with all the perks and comforts offered by their home university. The Assumption College Study Abroad Rome program allows students to pay Assumption tuition, apply financial aid, and even has Assumption instructors at their Rome Campus though they can learn here by firsthand experiences. The curriculum includes weekly excursions to museums and monuments within the city as well as to the surrounding countryside cities such as Ostia Antica, Tivoli, Castel Gandolfo or Subiaco.

In addition to the explorations within the city walls of Rome, every semester students and faculty take overnight trips to other Italian cities such as Florence, Pompei, and Naples to name a few. The best part is that these trips are included in the Rome Campus tuition and are integrated into the curriculum. It’s no wonder that after only two years of being in operation that this program was one of the “10 Best Study Abroad Programs in America” by an independent college rankings journalist.

Cocurricular travel

This study abroad program is unique to Assumption College students. It is led by the Campus Ministry and focuses on community service across the Europe, U.S., and Mexico. Thus, with the goal of enriching students education and perspectives.

Every other year the Assumption College students get the choice to go to a country in Europe to perform community service. There are many campus wide fundraising events that assist the group, though it is not a requirement to take the trip. In 2010 the group visited Paris. Typically the trips take place during winter and spring break. It is a two-week trip to Mexico or throughout the United States.

Every international trip begins with obtaining a valid U.S. passport, including Assumption College Study Abroad programs. Student visas are also a requirement typically if you plan to stay for over 90 days. However, it varies per country. Passports typically take 4-6 weeks to process.
