Elon University is a university that sets goals, then smashes them out of the park. As the #1 ranked study abroad program by the Institute of International Education for sending more students abroad than any other masters-level university in the nation, the Elon University study abroad program sent 1,434 students abroad during the 2014-2015 academic year.

By the year 2020 Elon wants to send 100% of their students abroad! With Elon’s multiple studies abroad program options in dozens of countries, we can’t see why they won’t achieve this goal. Elon offers both domestic and international study abroad programs which work in their favor. Students can travel to NYC or Japan for a semester. Elon University Study Abroad Programs

For students looking to study abroad with Elon University, there are options with Non-Elon Programs, to exchange, to independent programs, and everything in between! Elon offers more than 35 innovative short-term programs during the winter term, fall and spring break, as well as during the summer. Both exciting domestic and thrilling international programs are offered to Elon students that send them worldwide.

Domestic Study Abroad/ Study USA Programs

In addition to the many things Elon University does well, their Domestic Study Abroad programs are exceptional. Elon has been operating some of these programs for over 10 years and offers students many domestic locations to attend for the term such as New York City, San Francisco, Los Angeles, and Chicago!

Of all of the Elon Study USA programs, the most popular are the NYC Elon program. Just recently the university took note of the high demand of this program and opened a spring semester option that will begin in 2018! In prior years the program was only offered during the summer or spring semesters. Between the two existing semesters, Elon would send some 45 students to NYC to study.

Elon in LA, the Los Angeles program, has been running for 10 years now and offers courses as well as internships that fulfill Elon credits. In the Midwest in Chicago, Illinios Elon students will enroll in the popular Colombia College.

Summer Affiliate Programs

Whether your personal goal is to learn a foreign language, complete an international internship to boost your resume, or to simply study abroad you can get assistance from the Elon Summer Affiliate Programs. These programs can run anywhere from three to nine weeks in duration in over 20 countries. In short, students have the opportunity to experience a new country and personalize what they want their experience to be like with the many Summer Affiliate Program options. Passports & Visas

All study abroad programs at Elon University require a valid passport prior to travel. Obtaining or ensuring you have a valid passport is the first step to any study abroad trip. In order for a passport to be valid, it must not be expired and also must not expire up to 6 months after you return from your trip. Passports are estimated to take about 4-6 weeks to process, though private and trusted expedited services can be purchased if there is proof of departing in a short notice. Student visas and visa, in general, vary from country to country as well as the planned duration of your trip. Make sure you apply for your passport early as many visas can take weeks to process.
