Goucher College Study Abroad Program

Goucher College Study Abroad

There’s a good reason that Goucher College Study Abroad Program is ranking number 5 by the Princeton Review. Actually, there are more than 60 reasons! The college offers more than 60 programs on six continents in 32 different countries for students to explore. Goucher College doesn’t just encourage students to study abroad, they require it.

In 2006, Goucher became the first liberal arts college in the nation to require all of their students study abroad at least once before graduation! This is important because the college believes that no matter what you do or who you are, the global community of the 21st century demands you have an international perspective. Goucher College prepares students to be contributing members of the global society.

Founded in 1885 and is just outside of Baltimore, Maryland, Goucher College prides itself on being in the Top 10 Most Innovative Colleges according to U.S. News & World Report. In line with their recent requirement to study abroad, it’s no wonder why they also have been selected as one of the 40 select “Colleges That Change Lives”.

Goucher students have a lot of unique intensive course options at their fingertips. All of these options are led by Goucher faculty. Short term programs that last three weeks are during January break or summer from May-June.

What is so unique about Goucher’s ICAS program is that the same programs are not done every year. Instead, they alternate and add new locations. In the winter of 2017, some of the exciting trips were learning Tropical Marine Biology in Honduras and learning Spanish in Alicante, Spain. In previous years other courses include trips to Holland, Berlin, Tokyo, and Nicaragua.
