Texas Women's University Study AbroadTexas Women’s University(TWU) Study Abroad Program provides many opportunities for students to live and study for an entire semester in other countries. In addition, TWU offers cross-cultural educational experiences that emphasize visual and performing arts, business, history, language, nursing, literature, and comparative cultures.

Thus, the nation’s largest university primarily for women offers unique study abroad courses in countries as exotic as South Africa, Japan, and Italy. Just to name a few to their approximately 15,000 students.

Texas Women’s University Study Abroad Programs

Texas Women’s University Study Abroad has created a strong relationship and coalition with three worldwide affiliated partner programs. These programs allow them to offer a wide option of study abroad programs for their students in their Worldwide Affiliated Partners Program. Generally, in all, TWU offers 3 different study abroad programs. So, students must decide between which include the short term Faculty-Led Programs, Harlaxton College Program, and the Worldwide Affiliated Partners Program.

Featured Program: Harlaxton College Program

TWU has the honor of being one of the 27 US institutional partners of this program. While the program is administered by the University of Evansville, TWU students can take full advantage of the mastery of the program in Grantham, England.

Here, students can be studying in a 100-room Victorian manor-house. Its location is just off the countryside of England, one hour north of London! The Harlaxton College program has been around for 40 years and is where Texas Women’s University faculty and students have a second home.

Worldwide Affiliated Partner Programs

TWU is affiliated with the Academic Programs Institution (API), International Studies Abroad (ISA), and the American Institute for Foreign Study (AIFS). Hence, these relationships are important to students because they have more access to scholarships, successful programs with many major courses, and more support as they embark on their journey.

American Institute for Foreign Study (AIFS)

Since 1964, AIFS has sent over 1.5 million students abroad. Therefore, it is recognize as a leading provider of study abroad programs. In addition, what is unique about AIFS is that their programs are all-inclusive. So, it is much less stressful for students studying abroad. Furthermore, AIFS also includes a housing and meal plan for students. The plan includes home-stay, independent living, or in a residence hall. Also, easy to forget items such as transferring financial aid, visa assistance, and more are all offered through this all-inclusive program.

AIFS offers programs in Asia, Australia, Europe, South Africa and the Americas. Also, most AIFS campuses offer courses in English, a foreign language course is common also for students who are beginners to advanced levels. Thus, AIFS is able to give more than $800,000 in grants and scholarships to students annually.

Passports & Visas

So, every international trip begins with obtaining a valid U.S. passport. Thus, this include all trips for Texas Women’s University Study Abroad students. Student visas are also a requirement typically if you plan to stay for over 90 days. However, it varies per country. Passports typically take 4-6 weeks to process, but in the event of needing it sooner, expedited services are available.
