The Congo Democratic Republic is a major country located on the western side of Africa that also borders a number of other African nations. If you are planning to visit CDR for a period of six months or less, you will need both a passport and approved Congo Democratic Republic visa. It is important to note that the embassy for the CDR in Washington does not offer same-day visa services, so you need to plan ahead.

The Congo Democratic Republic Visa Requirements

You can apply for a visa for different lengths and types of visits, and the fees for the via range from $20 for a one-way transit visa to $400 for six months with multiple entries allowed. Each visa type application is to be submitted to the DRC embassy in Washington, D.C along with the following:

• A valid passport with at least six months remaining before expiration
• Two completed application forms that are fully completed, dated and signed by the applicant traveler
• Two passport-type photos of the traveler from a face-on perspective
• Copy of a Green Card (I-94) for U.S. legal residents
• Proof of immunization against yellow fever in the form of an International Certificate of Vaccination
• Copy of a specific travel itinerary from an authorized travel agent
• A letter from a sponsoring company assuming all responsibilities for the applicant
• A formal invitation letter from and notarized in the DRC
• A U.S.P.S Express Mail prepaid and addressed return mailing envelope

The embassy will deny and return any applications that are incomplete or missing any of the indicated items.
