Costa Rica Visa – How To Apply For A Costa Rican Visa

If your destination is Costa Rica you may not need a Costa Rica Visa but be ready to have your passport and proof that you are not staying there. The officials in Costa Rica also require a round-trip ticket or a ticket that shows you will be traveling to another country after visiting there. Passports must also be in good repair, as you may be denied access into the country if it is damaged. Vaccinations should be current and documentation of them in order, especially for proof of yellow fever, which is a requirement.

Tourists from the U.S are allowed to stay for 90 days if they choose to go to. When tourists leave the country they are required to pay a tax for departing of approximately $29 in U.S. currency. If you intend to stay more than 90 days you would need to request this from the Office of Temporary Permits in the immigration department. They will then evaluate your request and determine whether you will be allowed to stay or not. Failure to take this step could result in a fine, deportation, airport delays and denial upon future visits to their country.

For more information on the regulations please visit the Costa Rican Immigration Agency website.
