Germany Visa – How To Apply For A German Visa
Updated As of

If you are looking to travel to Germany, you will not need a Germany visa in order to do so for up to 90 days. If you are a United States citizen, you will not need a visa to visit Germany. Though a visa is not necessary for travel to Germany, you will need to ensure the following are in order.
Check passport validity – All travelers to Germany will need a passport that is valid for at least 90 days after they depart Germany. The ideal amount of validity time that should be left on your passport when you depart a country should be roughly 6 months.
Blank visa pages – Germany along with many other countries require at least two blank visa pages in your passport book when you arrive and depart Germany. This will permit any necessary stamps that will need to be stamped in your passport during your travel.
Transit Visa – Sometimes a transit visa is required when traveling to a country on a connecting flight. Countries that your fight stops at overseas may need to see a transit visa when connecting flights.
In conclusion, it is important to note that you will need to check to make sure that your existing passport has enough blank pages to accommodate any stamps and stickers that may be necessary upon arrival. Also, keep in mind the validity left on your current passport. Lastly, inquire about your flight and if a transit visa will be necessary.
A United States passport that is valid for at least three months after departure from Germany will suffice under the guidelines of the Schengen Agreement. If this guideline is not met, your trip may be cut short or you will be denied entry to Germany.
