New York REAL ID
A REAL ID is a driver's license, learner permit, or non-driver ID issued by the DMV that complies with federal requirements.
Starting in May 2025, it will be obligatory to possess a REAL ID to board domestic flights within the U.S. or access specific federal buildings unless you have a valid passport.
How to Apply for a New York REAL ID?
To obtain a REAL ID or an Enhanced Non-Driver License (ENDID), you need to visit a DMV office and present proof of identity.
If you are applying for a Non-Drivers ID (NDID), you must also provide proof of U.S. Citizenship. Online, phone and mail applications are not accepted.
