How to Obtain a U.S. Passport in Puerto Rico
If you live in Puerto Rico and are traveling internationally, one of the first things that you’ll want to do involves renewing your existing United States passport or applying for a new one. The process of applying for a new passport begins by downloading and filling out form DS-11 from the Internet. After you’ve filled out all of the required information to the best of your ability, you will also need to provide a few documents to submit along with your us passport application.
One of these documents will involve proof of US citizenship, which must not have been damaged or tampered with in any way when you submit it. You will need to also provide an original document that will act as your proof of identity, along with a copy of the front and back with your application. You will need to make a photocopy of your current identification card at the same time.
Finally, you will need to provide a single passport photo that will be used when your passport book is eventually created. This must be a two inch by two-inch photograph of the front view of your face, recreating the exact way that you will look on your date of travel to the best of your ability. You can get a proper passport photograph taken at most drugs stores or pharmacies or post offices in your area.
