Here are the location and operating hours of the post office. It is at 1820 Swarthmore Avenue and is open Monday through Friday from 9:30 am to 7:00 pm. It is not open on Saturday and Sunday. Other facilities in Ocean County near Lakewood can be found in Brick and Howell. In Brick, there are three (3) postal services and two (2) in Howell. Be aware that some post offices may require an appointment, again call before showing up.
Passport Services at the Post Office
The post office offers routine passport processing. With this service, you can have a new passport in 4-6 weeks. Applying at peak time can cause the process to delay. Also, if there is stormy weather, that can also cause the process to stall. Expedited service is available but only if you need a new passport in 2-3 weeks. The cost increases for this option. Some post offices also offer passport pictures, ask if that service is available at your nearest post office.
For routine processing, you can submit a passport application form to renew an expired passport, damaged passport, or lost or stolen passport. The form for each is different. Ask an agent at the post office for assistance. The cost may vary as well. Nevertheless, you can get a new passport for any of the reasons mention.
Other Acceptance Facilities
Apart from the post office, there are other sites where a passport application is accepted. They are courthouses, county clerk’s offices, and public libraries. Only routine processing is available at these locations. Like the post office, these locations are not open on Federal Holidays. Also, the sizes of these locations are smaller than the post office. So, most have one agent which can sometimes lead to longer waiting time to apply.
So, if you are ready to start the processing, visit your nearest post office and submit your application. Before you know it, you will have a new passport and prepared to travel.
