How Could I Get My Passport Renew for Upcoming Trip?
/ 5 Stars read 2 min
Question I will be going on an emergency trip abroad. My passport expiration date is in 4 months and I want to know if I will be able to travel with my passport expiring soon. Will I need a new passport?
Answer The validity of your passport will be effective all the way up until your passport’s expiration date. You will have no problem exiting or enter the United States with a valid passport even if the expiration date on that passport is one day after you exit or enter the United States.
However, many countries abroad WILL require your passport to have a certain amount of validation on the passport after you leave that particular country. Some foreign countries will require a 6 month validation period after your stay in their country, and some will require 3 months. Some countries might not require any validation period whatsoever. The validation period will vary from country to country. It is a recommendation to be aware of these validation requirements prior to traveling to a particular country. If there is some time before your emergency trip, you can renew your passport before you travel. In certain cases emergency passports can be issued if needed. Regular passport processing usually takes about 4-6 weeks to obtain a passport. You can use an expedited passport service which will process your passport within 2-3 weeks. The quickest way to obtain a passport would be to visit your closest regional passport agency. Or, employ a professional expediter to submit your application for you. You should be able to receive your passport in two weeks or less. Good Luck!
