Getting uneasy about timing since I travel in two weeks.

Question: I have been waiting for two weeks to receive my expedited passport. I submitted the documents they requested but am getting uneasy about timing since I travel in two weeks. It has already been two weeks. I thought I did this with plenty of time to spare but I am concerned.
Answer: It sounds as though you applied for expedited service. If you did, then you should have your passport this week. Remember expedited service takes 2-3 weeks for delivery. So, it is anytime between the 2 or 3 weeks you will get the passport. At the time of your application, the agent should have indicated when you could expect delivery of your passport.
You an call a representative at the National Passport Information Center (Phone number 1-877-487-2778). Be sure to have all of the documentation you were provided with at the time of application. Also, receipts of payments made concerning the application and service.
In the case of extreme emergency (you still have not received your passport and you are traveling in a week) you may visit a Regional Passport Agency who are able to issue passports on the same day. Here again you MUST bring all documentation with you and be prepared with new documents such as form DS-11 and passport photos in case you are dealing with a lost application.
